Fans have been banned from the next Pattaya Dolphins game vs. Chachoengsao in Nongprue and games will be played behind closed doors due to concerns about possible repeat incidents stemming from an almost year-old brawl between fans of Chachoengsao and Pattaya.

The incident took place on January 23rd, 2022 in which fans of both teams got into a brawl, with four Pattaya supporters injured, one with a severely broken arm. Pattaya Dolphins United filed a police report, claiming that Chachoengsao fans started the fight by attacking their fans. However, Chachoengsao fans claimed that Pattaya fans instigated the fight.

Both teams were ultimately punished with 100,000 baht fines and other punitive measures by the Football Association of Thailand Disciplinary and Etiquette Committee, led by Police Lieutenant General Amnuay Nimmano, regardless of conflicting statements of blame.

Maybe they could sort it out in the carpark?

Is that like ' kill em all; let God sort them out' ?  Ran into a lot of that punishment while I was a conscript; seems the army way if not the Thai way anyway.

What is it about soccer that makes fans wanna fight? So many other sports played with no issues of fans brawling but soccer has this in many countries. Even the normally chilled thais.

Weird.

Football Association of Thailand Disciplinary and Etiquette Committee,

Do they have committees for every thing?  I believe Prawit is on over 300; it's the free lunches that attract him.

It is because there is generally so little excitement during a soccer game, that the spectators feel compelled to create their own entertainment off field!

Should allow the fans onto the pitch and the two teams watch... more entertaining.

Read an essay maybe 40 yrs ago and author thought the (relatively) non stop action doesn't give fans a chance to catch their breaths. It was written by an American newsman... compare to major US sports (baseball, gridiron football, basketball somewhat) which have so many stops in the action (NFL even has "TV timeouts", WSJ says only 7 1/2 minutes action in average NFL game), maybe has a bit of truth in observation.
