THE ELECTION COMMISSION is investigating whether  the ruling Palang Pracha-rat Party received a three million baht donation in cash, suspected of  having been laundered by a Chinese - Thai businessman.


He was arrested last month at a bar which he operated in Chinatown,  it’s mainly chinese customers are believed to have been taking drugs.


If the donation is proved to be unlawful then party members may face a lifetime ban from politics. 


The government’s anti corruption commission has decided to seize the assets worth 1.35 billion baht from the former police chief known as Joe Ferrari, who is serving a life sentence for torturing a suspect to death.


The commission decided his lifestyle and assets did not match with his income as a police officer and declared him ‘unusually rich’

 

Police arrested 9 suspects in Lopburi and seized 2.2 million methamphetamine pills and 40 thousand Eri-min tablets from 3 vehicles.

Bali: US President  Biden and Chinese president Xi Jinping met and discussed North Korea and Taiwan amongst other issues, during their meeting yesterday.

Singapore:  E-commerce giant Shopee started a round of layoffs, yesterday, most employees were unaware until they arrived at work. It is unclear how many people were affected by the latest job cuts. They follow an earlier round of layoffs in June.
