BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s environment minister is currently in Egypt to represent the kingdom at the United Nations’ COP27 conference. His delegation is there to report on the nation’s progress in tackling climate change and implementing carbon reduction plans. Delegates also expressed Thailand’s intention to contribute to global efforts to mitigate global warming.

The 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) is being held in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm El Sheikh.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Warawut Silpa-archa is representing Thailand in discussions with multiple countries on how to respond to climate change. He is also discussing measures and innovations that would help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are a main contributor to global warming.

An important development has been progress made in the Thai-Swiss enactment of the worlds’ first carbon credit transfer agreement, which paves the way for future carbon credit exchange models. Thailand has also opened a carbon credit trade platform with the aim of developing it as a center for the voluntary exchange of carbon credits. The initiative is being discussed among ASEAN member nations in the hope of expanding its scope to cover the entire region.

Over the past year, Thailand has been successful in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and implementing climate change response plans. The kingdom is currently working towards realizing carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero emissions by 2065.

The delegation also presented Thailand’s progress in tackling global warming to the COP27 conference, as reflected in both short-term and long-term plans implemented by the kingdom.

just as well they are not hosting COP27 in Bangkok lol

Like not burning crops and forests, plastic and general waste management, diesel fumes, factory toxic waste management, coal power plants etc.

Hopefully it's all under control by the Environment Minister
