Boat safety measures enforced as large numbers of tourists head to Koh Samui for long APEC holidays

Siam Rath reported that the chief of the Harbor Department in Koh Samui Arun Bupphako had set up a command center to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the holiday island.

They were expecting many people to return home to the island and many tourists for the long five day break brought about by the APEC meeting in Bangkok.

Checks were being made on vessels to ensure that everyone had a life jacket and that boats were following naval rules.

Fire extinguishers were also checked.

Officials made sure that numbers on the jetty did not exceed established protocols and that everyone was as safe as could be.
