2.3kgs of cocaine seized from airmail parcel sent from Portugal

Thai customs and anti-narcotics officials seized about 2.31 kilograms of cocaine, found in an airmail parcel sent from Portugal, at a cargo terminal at Suvarnabhumi airport today (Tuesday).

Officials at the terminal thought the parcel was unusually heavy and alerted Thailand Post and the Office of the Narcotic Control Board, as well as airport security officers, seeking a thorough examination of the item.

They opened the parcel and found a play station and white power wrapped in a black plastic bag. The substance subsequently tested as cocaine, worth about 11 million baht on the street.

There's absolutely no way at all that this package was flagged for inspection by every government agency available because it was 'too heavy' at just a few kilos in weight.

They lie about how they operate.

Not very intelligent to just send it barely hidden in an airfreight parcel .

Did they not know that customs have scanners ?

We can't believe everything we read in the Thai media.

The standard of reporting here is atrocious...investigative journalism is non existent and many government agencies, corporations etc, simply lie for convenience!

If clever, the authorities would have left the package in the system until delivered to recipient then make arrests. Could have lead to busting a big drugs ring as unlikely to be the first consignment. But then, the recipient might have been influential or protected. Meanwhile, others get seriously busted for failing a pee test in a nightclub.

OMG that's a lot of nose bleeds !!!!!!!????

Right, not very smart people.

If it was a Playstation 5, someone is going to be really annoyed they have to find another one for sale.

Those things are like hen's teeth!

Or weighing scales to find things?

What happened to the other 10kg.

If clever, they should have subbed the bag and just put a tiny amount of the

right powder in a new bag and seen who picked up the shipment.

Of course this is Thailand.  Other posters are right, if some body who is powerful

picked it up, oops, never mind.
