mcd
One victim was shot dead and the other remains in a coma. Police suspect that there was some kind of argument over an illegal business which couldn’t be resolved; and that the two were shot to cover up the nefarious business. On 27 June 2007, at 1 AM, Pol.Sub.Lt. Prasit Lekdee, Banglamung, Chonburi, was informed by the radio center of Sawang Boriboon Rescue that local residents reported a shooting. One man was injured and another one was dead. The incident occurred at the three junctions of Baan Huey Yai and Road No. 331, Moo 5, Huey Yai, Banglamung, Chonburi. A team of police officers, with Sawang Boriboon and a doctor from Banglanmung Hospital, rushed to investigate. At the scene, near the three junctions, which had no traffic light, there was a red and black Honda Wave 100 motorbike, license 860, Chonburi, lying on the ground. The motorbike rider, Mr. Chamnarn Muengthong (29), address 12/22 Moo 12, Pluakdang, Rayong Province, was shot in his head and left arm. He was unconscious and severely injured. The rescue team immediately took him to Somdet Pranangjao Sirikit, Sattahip, Chonburi. On the opposite site of the road, was the body of Mr. Anothai Reanpis (26), address 49, Moo 9, Buotoom, Sopisai, Nongkai Province. He was shot in the back and in his left shoulder. Police found some cash in his pocket and five .38 bullet casings, which they kept as evidence. Initially, Pol.Sub.Lt. Prasit had no clue as to the motive for the shootings, as there were no witnesses to the incident. Residents only heard the sounds of shots and asked the nearby Sawang Boriboon Rescue to report the incident to the police. Mr. Channarn, who was severely injured, is still in a coma. Police only know that he is a second hand merchant, residing near Wat Thepbutr in Huey Yai. Police speculated that the motive could have been robbery; or that there was some kind of dispute that couldn’t be resolved. Apparently, the two victims feared for their safety and tried to ride away. Mr. Chamnarn was the rider of the motorbike and Mr. Anothai was sitting on the pillion. The attackers pursued and shot them. The police will question the witnesses and close relatives of the two victims in order to find and apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible.
