Football -  Manchester City emerged victorious in an English Carabao Cup thriller at Etihad Stadium. They beat holders Liverpool 3-2 and they have been drawn away to Southampton in the q/f's. League One Charlton Athletic will play Manchester United at Old Trafford, Newcastle United take on Leicester City at St. James Park and Nottingham Forest will play Wolverhampton Wanderers in an all midlands derby at the City Ground.

Argentina have climbed one place to second in the latest FIFA rankings behind arch-rivals Brazil after their World Cup triumph in Qatar. France rose to third with both of this year's World Cup finalists leapfrogging Belgium, who failed to reach the knockout stage. Morocco are 11th after climbing 11 spots, with the Atlas Lions the year's highest climbers.

Olympics - Men will be able to compete in Olympic artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronised swimming, for the first time at the Paris 2024 Games.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved up to two men being picked in the eight-strong team event. It has been a women-only discipline at the Olympics since it was introduced at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

American Football - Google owned YouTube has signed a multi year deal to exclusively stream the NFL's Sunday Ticket Package of games in the USA. DirecTV has been broadcasting the event since 1994, when it debuted. Reports say  that YouTube will pay $2.5 billion per year for the package.
