Thai Rath reported that up to 100,000 Thais and foreigners are expected to bring in the new year at a "Countdown 2023" event outside Central World in downtown Bangkok.

 

Numbers are expected to swell this year after the cancellation of previous events and toning down due to the pandemic.

Yesterday police and BMA officials were in talks about how to ensure the health of participants and access to the area by rescue services in the event of an emergency.

 

They were also concerned about the wider need of emergency services as millions across the Thai capital welcome 2023 on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
