A foreign man is being sought for questioning after CCTV footage reportedly showed him damaging property outside The Pannarai Hotel in Udon Thani in the early hours of September 8.

The hotel has submitted footage and other evidence to Udon Thani Provincial Tourist Police, asking officers to identify the man and summon him to accept responsibility for the reported damage.

The incident happened at about 2.40am outside the hotel in Mak Kaeng subdistrict, Mueang district, Udon Thani. Hotel manager Suphattra provided CCTV footage and details to several news organisations, with Amarin TV later publishing the footage.

CCTV shows alleged damage outside hotel

The footage shows the man walking along the footpath outside the hotel before punching a plant decoration, kicking a traffic cone and striking an illuminated sign at the front of the property.

Suphattra also said the man kicked a car parked outside the hotel.

Damage to the hotel's sign has been estimated at between 7,000 and 8,000 baht, according to Suphattra. The hotel collected the CCTV recording and other evidence before filing its report with Tourist Police.

The foreign man's identity has not yet been established. Local police had not provided a further update on the investigation.

Visitors staying in the area who may have witnessed the incident, or who have information that could help identify the man, may be able to assist Udon Thani Provincial Tourist Police.

Yeah, road signs can get irritating and deserving of a good beating now and again!

How terrible to punch a plantdecoration and kicking a traffic cone... I am wondering why this man was so upset for, that even an illuminated sign has to be broken. Sadly again news of a foreigner who is foing something wrong, while the reason of his actions are hidden. Maybe it would clarify it. There are always actions and reactions

Google Maps indicates close to the Nightlife area. Probably drank to much.

Anytime your looking for a fight just go to the nearest Muay Thai gym, they will be happy to bring you back to reality.

In the current anti foreigner climate a silly perhaps drunken episode could lead to banisment these days.

Strange behaviour indicative of mental health issues, probably compounded by intoxcation.

I watched the video, and I cannot tell that it is definitely a foreign man. Just because it happened in Udon's bar street doesn't necessarily imply that only foreigners walk that street. People get drunk and do stupid stuff. If bars are allowed to operate in that area, then they should expect those kinds of consequences. It's not earth-shattering news that deserves a countrywide spotlight on the evening news.

First of all, what is wrong with people?

It's never a good idea to take your anger out on property that doesn't belong to you. Especially not when there is CCTV everywhere.

Secondly, when will people learn that there are cameras everywhere in Thailand?

Caught on camera and busted. Pay the fine, apologize to the hotel owner and others affected by your stupid behavior. Learn to respect Thai people and the country.

Reminds me of a woman who owned a clothing store and installed CCTV to catch shoplifters. Unfortunately for her, it also caught her stealing from a customer's bag while the customer was in a changing booth 😄

What a clown, not sure if that's a farang or Thai from the video, anyway get him caught and a Big slap on the head,

Indeed, it looks more like a Thai man or other Asian man, than a foreigner, but the foreigners are being the bad guys at the moment in Thailand, so it is easier to blame them..Anyway hopefully we can get rid of this government quickly and things will improve again. I have said many times, there are more good behaving foreigners who don't get attention in the news than those who misbehave

Probably turned down by a local service provider and had to go back to his room alone and help himself.

Soi Sampan. Cattle shed bar area is 20 metres away.

Probably annoyed at something that happened at the bar, had had a few drinks and no inanimate object was safe from then on.

Why? Why? Why bring up mental issues and alcohol/drugs as a defense for this "strange behavior". Why not accept that this individual is a self-centered jerk and decided to have some fun at the expense of others.

Agree a self-indulgent "Clown". Very little sympathy if this clown is shaken down by the police when arrested. No one coerced or twisted his arm to do property damage. More than likely back in his home country, all he would get is a slap on the wrists from the nanny state.
