Between 1991 and 1996 I worked for "Credit-Suisse". Main branch, "private banking". To enter the kingdom of "private banking", you really had to be a "financial heavyweight". We got the results of their "research" departement first. To be distributed quickly to our "financial heavyweights", several hours before those facts became "common knowledge". Incredible amounts of money were made in a matter of hours, due to "advance knowledge". To believe, that such "immoral" financial behaviour has come to an end, due to "stricter legislation", is the equivalent of believing in Santa Claus. Nothing personel, just rejuvenating memories. Realising that nothing much has changed. "Immoral" behaviour just harder to track than before. -

Common reporting standard (CRS) information
All Thai banks do have these self-certification forms. One big bank uses forms that are illogical. Another big bank says, these forms are for people who want that CRS data are transmitted. Someone has posted that Thai banks just assume you are a tax resident in your country of passport. It's all a bit messy. It was quite messy when they started CRS in my home country, too (example: report CRS data to a non-participating country, confusing countries with similar names, etc) -

Thailand Delays Automated Entry System for Foreign Tourists
It has nothing to do with their system, it has to do with how will they get the money from every tourist, and anyone coming into Thailand. [ Expats that retired & those that work here, are all called tourist]. Sadly, eventually those that pay taxes here, when that materialized, for people bringing money into Thailand, and residing for more than 180 days, same boat. The funny thing of this all, one get's nothing from Thailand, not even a discount on medical cost. They would not sell foreigners land, let then keep it and see who buys it, the 1% that owns 90% of the land here, as most lay person here, cannot afford to buy.
