You are, of course, correct, oh great and wise one. RR, I suspect, must be a rabbit, as he once boasted on a different thread of seeing more of Thailand in one week than the poster he was responding to could see in a much longer period, which I can't remember. Might have been a lifetime. Wow, that's fast and I simply can't compete. No way, Jose. I, alas, and my Thai spouse, are turtles. We have done our exploring of Thailand at a leisurely, turtle's pace. Indeed, on one of our four visits to Chiang Mai, we went by train. It was faster than a turtle, but not by much, We enjoyed the train ride, though, and liked the slow pace. In hindsight, we should not have visited CM four times. What were we thinking? It must have severely cut down on the count of other provinces we could have visited, instead. Had we not visited so many times, we might be a little closer to RR's province count. But, again, we enjoyed immensely each of the visits--and everything we saw in the greater CM area each time. I know we always looked forward to stopping in Lampang, on our three driving trips to CM, and visiting each time a favorite large pottery store we discovered on one of our trips, to stock up on treasures. I have a photo of us taking a buggy ride around Lampang--oh, dear, that was slow-paced, too! We are cursed to be turtles rather than rabbits. Hang on. One thing that was quite fast was our speedboat ride to Koh Lipe, which we enjoyed visiting. There have been other fast boat rides to other islands, as well as car ferries at a slower speed to one or two other islands. At our slow pace, we have only visited about a dozen or so of Thailand's islands, but we have been to some more than once--again, what were we thinking? One thing I don't regret is a wonderful driving trip we took south from Pattaya during covid. Again, being turtles, we took our time working our way south, stopping at anything we liked. One stop was at a beautiful resort that had just opened. Since it was covid, there were only a handful of other visitors. They upgraded our room to one where you could open the terrace door and jump right in the huge pool--which we mostly had to ourselves. Since the restaurant was closed, they brought our breakfast to our room each morning. We enjoyed stopping at a number of places on that long trip, including Phuket, and taking boat rides, with snorkeling, to spectacular spots with very few tourists. It was all heavenly, but again, frightfully slow, now that I look back. On a second trip south we were fast and slow. We took a plane to Hat Yai--fast--and then hired a driver wit a van--slow--to take us around to various things to see during our trip. The highlight for me was our early morning visit to the Sea of Mist Skywalk mountain attraction. Slow-going (not again!) up the mountain, with a lot of turns, but well-worth it--the scenery was breathtaking. I confess I have not counted the number of provinces we have visited. I know we visited Trat province, where my spouse was born, so that's one. We live in Chonburi, two, and does Bangkok count? We have a condo there. I'm pretty sure the total's more than your 6, but I fear we will likely never catch RR, being turtles, not rabbits.
