A further 6 bodies have been found following the explosion on a cargo vessel on Tuesday, some were found on board a while at least one was found close by in the water, so far 8 people are confirmed dead and 4 injured at least one person is still missing. 


The cause of the blast has yet to be determined.

 

A Singaporean man arrested at Phuket airport on Monday was denied bail yesterday. 


32 year old Daryl YoungHui is alleged to have been involved in a ponzi scheme that swindled 2.4 million baht out of nearly 10 thousand victims. The court ordered he be detained for 12 days and deemed he was a flight risk.


Twenty-nine illegal migrants from Myanmar crammed into a pickup truck were arrested after the vehicle overturned  after its left rear tyre burst on the Phetkasem Road between Phatthalung and Hat Yai. 


The driver and passengers fled when police arrived but most were arrested some time later, they had crossed the border at Ranong and were seeking work.

 

Thai tourism officials are considering extending the 30 day visa exemption program, until the end of the year for arrivals from over 50 countries.


This exemption allows arrivals to stay for up to 45 days, then apply for an additional 30 days if required.

The first direct flight from Shanghai with 182 Chinese tourists on board arrived in Phuket last night.
