Chanthaburi: Speedboat racing 29 January and 5 March 2023

Featured Replies

This style:

Racing on Sunday 29 January and Sunday 5 March 2023 in Chanthaburi province.

In previous years there's been up to six boats per race, on a long oval course as opposed to what I've also seen which is straight-out two boat drag racing.

I se DJKai who makes these videos is booked for the 29 January event.

Location - near Khlong Khud (Khut) which is between Tha Mai and the coast at Chao Lao; 24km from Chanthaburi city, or about 10km from turnoff on Sukhumvit Rd.

From Sunday at Khamong, Khlong Khut, Chanthaburi

A nice social day in the sun, enjoyed it. Next races are on the other side of the road, a little further along at Wat Kamong on 5 March.

Longtail races at Makham, Chanthaburi, weekend of 27-28 July 2024.

New venue I think it's a flooded former quarry.

For Chanthaburi - races mostly between January-March

For future races, a good resource is Facebook "djkai livestream" he covers most of the bigger events, plus livestreams them

Nationally - there's racing this weekend small boats on the 19th and big boats on the 20th of July 2025 at Klong Ta Kham, Samut Sakhon.

Fun on the water

Claimed to be the "World's fastest (only?) racing duck", this boat has been making appearances at racing events across Thailand

Races at Laem Sing beach, Chanthaburi last Sunday 28 December 2025.

This was circuit racing over a 1.5km triangular course, up to six boats per race. Cornering is an art especially in the wake of the leading boat, a few capsizes on the day.

As always, the best resource is a Facebook page 'djkai livestream' he notifies events in advance and last year had a calendar of upcoming events (haven't seen it yet for 2026).

From Saturday 17 Jan at Na Yai Am.

Six boats per race, two laps over a curved oval course of about 2km. Dry and dusty, the onsite temperature gauge was showing 37C by 1pm.
