Palang Pracharath Party Leader Prawit Wongsuwan was formally nominated as the party’s sole candidate for next prime minister at its general meeting on Friday.

Wirat Rattanaseth, a deputy party leader, told the media that party members were unanimous in their choice of General Prawit, who is also a deputy prime minister, as the sole candidate for Thailand’s 30th premiership. They claim to be confident that Prawit will be the next prime minister, following the party’s last candidate, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is the current prime minister.

He urged all party members to join the party’s fund-raising meeting, scheduled for January 30th, during which, he said, the party will announce its priority policy to push for a monthly subsidy of 700 baht for state welfare card holders.

Hopefully he can stay awake long enough to campaign  the people up here in issan don't like him but with the way they pick their pm anything can happen they really need some young blood not some old general that can't stay awake

Ok! Let's celebrate by borrowing more luxury watches from friends!  Is there not one honest PM candidate?

I guess he won't be running for PM under the "young progressive platform".

Throw in a solid candidate from Move Forward and other true opposition and we just might have something to look forward to.

I'm waiting for one of the dynamic duo to find a good reason to have the Move Forward Party to be banned by the constitutional court.

Funny how the 3M baht donation to them has gone very quiet?

Would any Thai vote for a soldier for next PM especially old sleepyhead? Are the ordinary Thais going to be allowed to vote? Is this going to be a democratic election?

If it is, would all the soldiers in parliament just now not be better just going back to their barracks and parade grounds?

I think we all know that it will only be a matter of time before some general, or even the same unelected flip flopper who is in office just now, will gather up the soldiers, guns and tanks and it will again be as you were.

Yep. Same old cycle prevails.

Too many don't wanna recognize the reality of how things have always worked here.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'

I love how you think calling Dylan by his birth name is clever. It isn’t. You aren’t.
