Twenty-four people were injured when a staff shuttle bus carrying Myanmar workers left the road and overturned into a canal in Bang Pakong district, Chachoengsao, on 7 September 2026.

The Mercedes bus, registered in Chachoengsao, came to rest on it’s side in Khlong Lam Wai Ling canal beside the canal road in Moo 2, Bang Samak subdistrict.

Police and Chachoengsao rescue workers were called to the scene at about 6.30am. Pol Lt Col Somsak Puangsuk, an investigating officer at Bang Pakong Police Station, attended the incident.

Driver says bus left the narrow road

The 65-year-old driver, Amnuay, and 30 Myanmar employees had managed to get out of the vehicle and were waiting at the roadside when emergency teams arrived.

Twenty-four people were injured: 21 men and three women. Rescue workers provided first aid before taking them to Chularat 11 Hospital.

Amnuay told police that he had been driving to collect Myanmar workers for their jobs at Wellgrow Industrial Estate. He said the bus just ran off the shoulder while travelling along the narrow lane, overturned and fell into the canal.

No further details on the severity of the injuries were provided.

Wellgrow Industrial Estate is in the Bang Pakong area of Chachoengsao, east of Bangkok, where factories and logistics businesses employ both Thai and migrant workers.

Coincidentally I recently saw one of those on HWY 36 , loaded with workers hurtling along at high speed and only feet from the rear of another vehicle, lights being flashed, driving very dangerously. I think there were a couple of others in a group. These were open 6 wheel trucks and a crash would have produced a very grisly result.
