Where to go until May to escape the Pollution?

Featured Replies

I would go to Vietnam but they only offer a 30 day Visa with NO extensions.

I'm not going on a border run every month - or even once.

It looks like there is no location in Thailand currently out of the Red Zone (or worse).

Hopefully I'm wrong. Do you know of an area in Thailand with liveable AQI currently (hopefully Yellow)?

Malaysia has better weather but Georgetown is relatively expensive and after a week I don't think there's a lot to offer.

Don't want to live in Kuala Lumpur.

Would prefer to remain in Asia, but...

Europe?  Portugal/Cyprus/Greece/Spain?

Have you found a place, in Thailand or out?

Suggestions?

Phuket is fine or at least a fair bit better it appears.

The islands here by Koh Samui are pretty good at the moment.

We get quite a few guests down from 'up North' at this time of year.

Mind you, the island is pretty full. Pre book your rental if you are thinking of coming.

Pretty sad to see the pollution issues every year. It’s not getting any better. Cheap places ain’t good, good places ain’t cheap!

Health is number one!

time to make an intelligent decision!

The South still looks healthy, most of the coastal towns are OK everywhere, even East of Bangkok towards Koh Chang. West of Bangkok from Hua Hin South also looks good. Just don't go inland and dont go North.

I remember from past smoke seasons that Hua Hin gets as bad as the other smoked out cities - confirmed by posters living there. I guess not yet.

We lived in Phuket for a few years and there were times when the smoke from Indonesia and Malaysia was almost as bad as it is here in the North currently. It's a luck of the draw thingy.

Hat Yai is fine, AQI 41 (10µg/m3), Songkhla is even better at around AQI 13.

Weather still not great in those locations yet. Doable but jacket weather in the evening and still rain. I am returning to Greece end of next month, nice balance as it gets too hot here for me.
