Aside from Patty Doyle and Walk Around Wayne, most YouTubers in Thailand earn a pittance.

Hence the Go Fund Me.

I think it used to pay well until everyone jumped in on that bandwagon.

Same with every other gig economy where payouts collapse. Grab comes to mind.

YT is a lot of work, and trying to keep it interesting, if using it for your income. Editing vids can take hours, and good camera gear isn't cheap. Doyle puts a lot of time & effort into his vids, and get paid quite well for it. Not to mention, if doing travel vids, simply the cost of, petrol & hotels.

YT adjusted how they pay out a couple years ago, and YT'ers took a hit on income.

How true. When things go seriously wrong, they can completely knock you off your feet.

I experienced something similar at around the same age - 27 or 28. Somehow, though, I managed to get back on my feet, slowly but surely.

No Facebook, YouTube, or social media rants, and no appeals for assistance through GoFundMe or similar platforms.

I simply worked my way back, with the invaluable support and help of my parents.

Should of stayed in her home country and stayed employed in a real job.

Dreamers. So much for “living the dream “. But he was so charming, at first.

There’s a reason why many thai women say “Thai man no good “

FAFO.

I only watch two YouTubers for Thailand and to be honest, are getting kind of boring, because they're discovering places I discovered years ago.

Once in a while might give me a new place to peek at, but very rare.

There's a few I watch because they go to eclectic markets I'd never find on my own, and (mostly automotive and racing) events that we never hear about. Or we only hear about them too late to attend. Turns out, there's a lot of fascinating stuff going on that never makes this forum. Go figure.

The ones about "How to live your best life in Thailand", not so much.

A couple years ago Lily took an extended trip back to Idaho with her oldest son and said " I need to keep my US Drivers license current". Back then her videos were interesting about her life and I found the life of her Burmese maid interesting. Getting the Burmese maid's son out of Myanmar was interesting. Back then no mention of donations. I keep my CA DL current but I am not married to a Thai woman, do not have kids and could literally pack up and leave in a day. If worse comes to worse she could back to Idaho and live family but would the three kids come along?

Got a plug in there for God, just so ful of it these Yanks💯🤣

Here's one that's a total disaster zone, total narcissist. Can't believe people are sending her money. Seems like she has mental health problems.

The Gen Zees and Millennials brains - the girls particularly - are gone to soup. Not sure what happened. 2019 didn't help.

Glad I got me only a half crazy Gen Xer.

There is a guy named Liam Richards who does some interesting motorcycle trips. I've watched his videos on Malaysia and recently Laos. I know the areas well that he put up on YT. But he was still interesting, because he was able to dig out some aspects of life there that I didin't know.

Do you really believe a girl in a bar when she says to you "Thai man no good '' ?? If that were true why have they all got a Thai husband or boyfriend / brother.?

Agreed that in many cases this is just to get sympathy of foreigners. Not in all cases though.

What was incorrect about the statement “Thai man no good “?

The problem for women married to a Thai man is that it is more than likely he will spend a lot of money butterflying around. Not in every case of course, but in many.

There are some like buzzing Pattaya that keep you updated on things. There are also some that give you an idea of what life is like in different parts of the country.

The Thais get their news on YT

I always thought they got their news from TikTok.

Seen this lady a few times over the years on YT vids.Obvious from day 1 she was as nutty as a fruitcake.

As for losing everything to a Thai? Quelle surprise .

There are hundreds of similar stories on Soi Buakhaow.

If you want I can save you a bar stool luv.

Well, as a casual observation, and for her as a western woman in Thailand, then she's not exactly got a huge potential audience for her material from a western woman's perspective here... and even if I was a newbie to Thailand I'd hardly seek out a western woman's slant of life here or even want to listen to her amateur dramatics.

Also, when people talk about a sudden health declines/nervous system collaspes yada yada etc., then you have no idea if it's strainght up or just drama-queen nonsense doing the max-out gofundme rubbish MO.

Calling BS on this... begpacking this nonsense mostly is. She's probably nuts to have come here and done all this as a woman because why should "passport bros" get all the fun. Also, being amazed that some Thai guy scammed you is a surprise... blimey.

There are so many people that have no idea and do no due dilligence before coming here and trying to "live the life" and gain longevity as a true expat... just deluded.

More to be made on Only Fans. Even if you are butt-ugly and male. I started a channel featuring me swirling my ugly toes in pots of honey, then licking them off - made a fortune! lol

Crying without tears....
