Pattaya's new police chief Pol Col Thanapong Photi reacted swiftly to complaints that an automatic vending machine had been set up outside a restaurant on the holiday island of Koh Lan.

 

It was not selling drinks or snacks but marijuana and e-cigarette products.

 

Locals were concerned that not only would the machine make it easy for youths to access the items but it would do damage to the image of tourism on the island, reported Siam Rath.

Chief Thanapong was joined by local police on the island, municipal officals as well as health department staff from Muang Pattaya and Chonburi province.

 

The brightly colored machine was set up outside the Tha Na Ban restaurant. There were twelve buttons to press and a website under the name www.Hashtag-th.com.

 

But there was no owner in sight.

 

The machine was taken into evidence as investigations began into who was behind it.

Button 1 showed a pre-rolled "hang krarok" joint or "squirrel tail" for 280 baht. This would be very expensive for what is basically Thai stick weed.

 

Button 3 appeared to be a vaping device for 440 baht.

 

While #7 were brownies for 250 baht and #12 "Brown Paradise"cookies.

 

ASEAN NOW tried the www address but got a not secure message.

No one has paid the fee to make sure the machine is legit......

Cool idea.   TAT should promote this.  Must applaud the makers of this.    Did it take cash?  

The only thing damaging the reputation of Thailand are the ridiculous laws that stop people harmlessly enjoying themselves: the law against vaping exemplifies this.

These must be deployed throughout Thailand immediately to end all the lao khao and yaba fueled rages. Prices will have to come down a bit tho.

It will be returned in a week after being modified to include #13, a pre addresses brown envelope

Obviously the Mistake was Putting a vaping device in it ??? ... Like I could do with a few of the Brownies I think !!! ...

Yes, somewhat impressive.... the machine should have also included a cold beer and condom for that complete night out!

give them an inch they have to stretch it to a mile.
