Soon, Trump and Vance will claim that "they" are once again trying to silence him. Who are "they"? Anyone who opposes Trump. On the campaign trail, Vance has suggested that "they" tried to silence Trump through impeachment, the courts, and now, through assassination attempts. This tactic is known as stochastic terrorism—political violence incited through inflammatory public rhetoric. It's the same kind of rhetoric that led to the events of January 6th. According to Wikipedia, “the public figure can plausibly deny responsibility for any subsequent attacks because their words were not an explicit call for violence, and there is no direct link between the instigator and the attacker. This is the key distinction between stochastic terrorism and other forms of terrorism.” Trump frequently describes his opponents as guilty of "treason"—a crime punishable by death. This is not typical political discourse; it's stochastic terrorism. By labeling his enemies as traitors, Trump is fueling a dangerous narrative. It would surely be better for Trump to be removed at the ballot box, not by bullets. Fortunately, it seems evermore likely as he makes more frequent disordered, fantasy statements like, "They're eating the dogs!" This is also stochastic terrorism, as he's targeted a specific minority group (Haitians) in the two small towns. They are at risk for their lives now. It's a kind of blood libel, since pets are seen as family members. "The stereotyping of Haitians as savage pet-eaters could lead to a rise in racial violence, experts warn. In Springfield, bomb threats have already led to the closure of city hall and schools. Additionally, Republicans have seized on the tragic death of an 11-year-old boy—killed in a bus crash involving a Haitian immigrant—to further demonize the Haitian community. Two Teens Injured by Ping Pong Bomb Outside Convenience Store in Yala

In the early hours of September 16, two teenagers were injured by a ping pong bomb explosion in front of a convenience store in the Sateng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Yala Province. The Yala Narenthorn Emergency Medical Centre alerted the Chao Mae Thapthim Rescue Radio Unit just after midnight, reporting the incident at the "Malay Bangkok" convenience store. Upon receiving the information, rescue teams immediately dispatched emergency vehicles to the scene. Two male victims, aged 14 and 15, were found injured upon arrival. The first victim, a 14-year-old male, had suffered a severe laceration to his left palm, with his left thumb having been blown off. The second victim a 15-year-old male, reported leg pains, which was a suspected broken leg and multiple scrapes across his body. Emergency responders administered first aid at the scene before transporting both individuals to Yala Central Hospital for further treatment. The incident is currently under investigation, with police reviewing CCTV to identify if the two were innocent victims or if the ping pong bomb was theirs. -- 2024-09-16 -
