The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) busted three storage centers located in Bangkok and Samut Prakan and confiscated 14 million baht worth of fake toothpaste, cosmetics, and brand-name bags last week.

 

The operation came after a famous Thai toothpaste manufacturing company filed a complaint with FDA that their products have been counterfeited and are being sold widely in markets and online, Pol. Maj. Gen. Anan Nanasombat, commander of the Consumer Protection Police Division (CCPD), told a press conference on Monday, February 13th.

 

The FDA and CIB then swooped in first at two houses in the Nong Bon sub-district and another on Soi On Nut 70/1. Both premises are in Bangkok’s Prawet district, according to Maj. Gen. Anan.

If they knew they were helping to distribute counterfeit toothpaste then I hope they don't.

I noticed my Colgate is not making my teeth white.

I heard a lot about fake products. But toothpaste is new to me. Hope all these people risking the health of others get punished accordingly. It is not the same as selling fake watches for instance.

A fake Rolax watch can turn your wrist green, fake toothpaste can affect your health. I am glad this bunch was

located and seized.  I hope it is jail time for the Chinese guy, then deportation and at least 10 year ban after that.

They deserve a punishment the same as the owners for risking peoples health

Swooped no less, the BIB must be outfitted with superman capes.

This must be a devastating blow to a lot of expats and tourists.  They are probably wondering how they can afford to brush their teeth now.  

Fake toothpaste, but does it work? I can see from the photo that it's 'Darlie' have any been recalled? or is it still on sale? , some info on how to know fake from real might be useful.

Reminded me of Tommy Cooper   ' My teeth are ok but my gums have to come out '.

Bit severe isn't it? Why are you so upset, is he giving Pattaya a bad name? ????

 

There must be a joke here about dental appointments rising dramatically but i can't think of one.

Maybe they could just call it Darkie, to save any issues. 

 

There are many fake / copied products for sale in Thailand , from many outlets including Lazada who do not seem to vet their vendors . The Darlie tooth paste is being sold on Lazada by 58 vendors with quite a varience in price . It would not surprise me if the fake Darlie tooth paste has been sold in shops for a long time , along with other fakes e.g. Olive oil , honey etc . 

Its about time that manufacturers came up with a code for tracibility for their products which would give customer confidence . Or is it beyond the wit of man ?

likely kids suckered into working for cheap for the scammer Zhong who was arrested...seems the girls were not arrested

I was suspicious as soon as I saw the stripes were going the wrong way!
