Thai Rath reported that Benz Daimon - real name Chaiwat Khajornbunthaworn - turned himself in to the custody of the Technical Crime Suppression Division police at 12.15 am this morning.

The racer was expected to be interrogated all night by the TCSD after a warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with charges associated with the Macau888 online gambling case.

Earlier his former girlfriend Arisara had made claims about his activities. She was not there last night.

Neither were Chaiwat's two younger brothers that she also implicated. They have not returned to Thailand.

Chaiwat's lawyer Phisit Chutipornpongchai said that his client was ready to fight charges in court and was stressed out by the whole situation.

He said that Chaiwat was clinically depressed and had a doctor's note to prove it.

He can be held for 48 hours at the police's discretion. Whether he will be granted bail remains to be seen, added the lawyer.

Earlier Thai Rath's sources said that the suspect had arrived and said in comments translated from Thai:

"I am here to show my innocence. I had nothing to do with online gambling - that's all".

He was then promptly cuffed and escorted at close quarters by officers into the interrogation room.

Police seek longer detention of alleged “Macau 888” kingpin

The key suspect in “Macau 888” online gambling operation, Chaiwat Kachornboonthaworn, was escorted by cyber police to the Criminal Court this morning (Wednesday), to seek approval for his further detention.

The 38-year-old suspect was questioned for about five hours, after he flew back to Bangkok from Hong Kong last night, and was immediately booked by the police and taken to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIM), formerly known as the Technology Crime Suppression Bureau, for interrogation.

Chaiwat’s lawyer, Phisit Chutipornpongchai, told the media that he will apply for bail, although the police investigators in charge of the case say they will oppose his bail.

Must be the excuse du jour.

That's the second time on AN today that excuse has been used.

First the reason the thug battered the security guard,
