Harvey Weinstein, the former Hollywood mogul already serving a 23-year prison sentence in New York, was sentenced in Los Angeles Thursday to an additional 16 years in prison for charges of rape and sexual assault.

Prior to the sentence, Weinstein spoke in court and continued to deny any wrongdoing, calling the case a “setup.”

Excellent news. He richly deserves all the time they can add. He could have had his choice of 1,000s of beauties, who were very willing to do what he wanted, in exchange for an entry into the industry. Instead he chose the degenerate path. No sympathy. 

Great news. A vile creature. Hopefully this sends a message to others in the industry.

 

Bad news for the Democrats though, he was one of their most prolific donors.

The casting couch is a long-known tradition in Hollywood going back to 1937. It does look like it isn't going to end soon.

One of the prosecutors addressed this, saying that getting this sentence in Los Angeles allowed them to place him in prison if he ever found some way to slip out of the New York sentence. Valid. But I think also it had a little something to do with high profile people wanting headlines.
