2024 poll: DeSantis slides as Trump surges to 1st head-to-head lead in months

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that after trailing for the last three months, former President Donald Trump has suddenly surged to a substantial lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a two-man matchup for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

Previously, DeSantis led Trump 45% to 41% among Republican voters. Now Trump leads DeSantis 47% to 39% — a net swing of 12 percentage points in Trump’s direction since early February.

The survey of 1,516 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Feb. 23 to 27, suggests that Trump could prove more resilient in 2024 than his rivals had hoped — and more difficult for someone like DeSantis to defeat.

I can see why his visit to the environmental catastrophe area and of course the lableak now being reluctantly admitted as most likely is benefitting Trump. It seems like he is being proved correct about contentious issues all the time these days. Funny that.

I hate to say this, but trump's time has passed. It was incredibly damaging to democracy all the hoaxes against the guy even 2 silly impeachments but alas what's done is done. Most people can't take 4 more years of unbridled hatred and hoaxes from the media. So better let DeSantis have a go, and if he wins, just pray they will let him serve his term without all the dishonest attacks Trump faced.

How is that culture war working, Ron? ????

Agree 100%. If Trump wins nomination IMO only likely to be a win for the Dems and that's the last thing I want to see happen.

Still a long time till 2024 election so hopefully he will bow out before then.

I'm sure the Dems are praying for him to be the candidate as IMO that's their only chance of keeping the big chair.

Ronnie ain’t so popular outside of Florida and the Republican Party is losing more voters every day the Republicans need to speak up and offer alternatives to issues and stop this cancel culture against the tiniest of sub groups in America as far as their attempts to cancel the civil rights movement that’s doa allready

One poll by itself doesn't mean much. The trend still favors Desantis.

There's also this Fox News poll showing Trump well ahead. There's still a long way to go but it looks like DeSantis is toast. His far right policies are perceived to be even worse than Trump who is merely stupid and lazy.

Wow, early 2023 and they want to poll for November 2024!  Who pays for these rediculous polls?

Likely 200 million of more voters in the U.S., so the idea that a survey of 1500 people gives any statistically relevant outcome makes no sense to me

The same people who've paid for polls year round in every year since forever I guess. Statistics has shown that 1500 is adequate to produce a poll that normally lies within a calculated confidence level. The pollsters aren't claiming that public opinion won't change between now and 2024, just that this is the public opinion now. Curious that folks want to know what that opinion is even now, isn't it?

Nah, its Trump 2024 , Mr D in 2028.

America First supporters want a “proven” leader! Besides MrD hasn’t

declared he wants to be POTUS and

there is no national policy agenda by him!

Right now he has the kiss of failure endorsement coming from

a political failure Paul Ryan x gop house speaker!

No problem. If DeSantis wins and tries to be president instead of a traitorous mafia godfather willing to instigate a coup he will not have to be be indicted.

Doesn’t not matter whether it’s Trump or DeSantis for 2024. Trump has no broad base support and Desantis doesnt have nation wide appeal. None of them can win 2024. Unfortunately there are no other suitable candidates from team crazy while team normal are shut out. GOP has themselves to blame for creating their monster.
