Mae Sai visa excempt entry

Featured Replies

Hello all has anyone got any experiace exiting and re entering Thailand visa excempt at the Mae Sai border in Chaing Rai.I seem to remember reading something about only people with multientry visa,s being allowed to exit?? Thank,s to all

I assume you do not have a Thai or Myanmar ID, the old footbridge crossing in town centre was closed to foreigners last month due I believe to internal factors in Burma.

The new out of town crossing is for border freight only I was told not foot crossing for foreigners certainly.

To save a wasted journey I would await reports here or why not call Thai immigration, Of course they cannot control what the other side does, but will know on the day ? Good luck

As far as I know, the only border crossing with Myanmar open for foreigners at the current time is the bridge at Maesot. It is also possible that the crossing from Ranong to the Grand Andaman resort is open. There were reports a few months ago that it was partially open, but not for visa exempt entry on the return.
