The latest statistics show an overall improvement in Thailand’s labor market, nearly returning to the pre-COVID level, but questions remain about the availability of well-paying jobs.

Unemployment fell to 1.15 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022, from 1.23 percent in the third quarter, compared to 1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Full-year unemployment rate in 2022 averaged 1.32 percent.

How big is the actual working force now compared to pre- pandemic levels. So many businesses still shuttered and many hotels closed going into the start of a 4th year.  Do they obtain there stats from listed businesses only or a survey of all operating fronts.  I know that the company my GFs brother and cousin work for are mainly staffed with foreign workers from Myanmar and Cambodia.  How do they count this businesses employment now versus prior to covid when over half were Thai workers.

And if you believe that... well you'd believe in anything.

No surprises there then...

Oh dear.

I think I misread the headline. The word is "tough" not "trough".

It is more probably just a % based on people paying tax! A huge portion of Thais work day to day, hand to mouth, with cash from small food stalls etc.????????????????

and the balancing act is how many times they can switch factions/parties before they are laughed at..... At least they are not burdened with any actual economic policies to unbalance them.

They seem to be party jumping right now to find a new group who will empower them at the trough now....
