TM30 - Registration (Staying with Thai Wife's family)

Recommended Posts

Hello

I will be arriving in Thailand 25 April and staying 1 night in hotel in Bangkok

I will then be travelling to stay with my Thai wife's family in Nong Khai province (but a 2 hour drive from the immigration office)

I understand he needs to register my arrival within 24 hours (TM30).

Can my father-in-law (Thai national and owner of house with Blue Book) register my stay electronically or do we have to visit the immigration office?

I read this "As owner you can apply for registration of house master account and electronically perform a TM.30-report..." with the link below

https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/loginFnServlet?login=true

If this is possible, can I then report further 90 day stays online meaning I don't have to visit an immigration office at all (for TM30) whilst I stay with them?

Many thanks in advance

Tim

Yes, your FiL should be able to register his property to complete TM30 reports online, either using the website you quoted or the Section38 phone app. I registered myself as the housemaster of my wife's house so I could do my own TM30 reports. The documents I uploaded were a copy of my wife's ID card, a copy of the blue house book for the house and a copy of my passport ID page. I got my userid and password the next day by email. Documentary requirements to register may vary depending on your immigration office. A lot of other people have done the same. Once registered, all subsequent TM30's can be submitted online.

Hi

Thanks for this. I have all the relevant documents and information to "help" register him.

Did you do everything via the app or some/all online?

Is the app available on Google playstore or is it a weird "apk" download?

Finally - in short - if I can get this sorted then we don't need to go to the immigration office (it would be like staying at a hotel where they log people in/out)?

Your help much appreciated - Kind regards

Tim

I used the Section38 app to register and have done all the reports using the app.

The app was on google playstore but may not be visible if your google playstore country is not set to Thailand. Once you are registered you should not have to visit immigration to do a TM30. If you only come to Thailand on short visits and don't need to get extensions or do 90 day reports at your local IO then you probably don't need to bother doing a TM30 at all.

I've got my Play Store set to Thailand AND I'm using a Thai payment profile via pay.google.com yet the Section38 app just won't show up when I search in the Play Store.

I had to get it using a link provided by Ubonjoe which I've subsequently found your can generate yourself in the Play Store. It is...

The issues with this app never cease to amaze. I get this when I click on that link from my desktop PC:

The only other option is to get the APK file from a third-party host like apkpure.

I downloaded the Section38 from apkpure the other day and installed it on my 2nd phone, then ran scans with McAfee and Sophos Intercept X. No malware detected.

Thanks. I have the app installed already from when I could access the "Thailand" playstore. I was just trying to assist the OP in finding it himself.

No worries. I only know this because I helped another BM the other day with the same issue. I gave him the link and it also didn't work. In the end he went the apkpure route.

I also changed my Google account to one that is based in Australia and when I clicked on the link in my phone all I got was a blank screen. This was somewhat surprising since you normally get directed to the Play Store and the app shows up but with the "not available in your company".

It seems that Immigration are doing their level best to hide this app from the public. Perhaps they want to stop maintaing it and divert the budget to more pressing tasks (buffet lunches?)

Hi @Lemsta69. I don't think this is an issue created by Thai immigration. IMHO, it's a google issue. I can change to the "Thailand" playstore if I enter a payment method in my google account, but the chance of that happening is as likely as "rocky horse $hite".

My take is that it's an Immigration issue. The app vendor can choose which countries their app is available in. It would seem that they only want Thai-based users to be able to download the app. Or maybe Google charges extra for apps to be listed worldwide.

At any rate it gave me something to do the other day and I guess I'm now an Android Section38 app specialist. When's my salary coming AseanNow?

ps. this article touches on some of the technical aspects of app geo-restriction:

Thanks for all the info everyone. I'll have a go at downloading. Moving to Thailand but want to try and set it up before I arrive. Will make life easier if I want the odd day in Bangkok or elsewhere

TM30 has basically been covered but not the 90 day report.

There's been a few reports of people being able to do the initial report online but the vast majority of reports still appear to be it isn't possible for the first report. You can try (registering here appears to get good reports: https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/register/add) or you can do it by mail (see about 2/3 of the way down here https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=1666).
