By Thai Newsroom Reporters

FORMER PRIME MINISTER Abhisit Vejjajiva reconfirmed today (Mar.21) he will definitely not jump onto the Democrat bandwagon of candidates running in the May 14 general election.

Abhisit said he has already resolved to not join ranks with Democrat electoral contestants either in party-listed or constituency-based mode though some among the party’s rank and file may have preferred him to.

After the 2019 general election, the former premier staged an historic, solo protest against the Democrats for having voted in support of Prayut Chan-o-cha as unelected prime minister, regardless of his repeated vows to never endorse the army chief-turned-coup leader for head of a post-election government.

Despite western education he's no friend to us farang.

Government policies were tepid, unproductive, unremarkable.

In past decade I'm unaware of anything he's said or done that signals a need to replay this tired, old song

Took power post coup and he's ok with that? No thanks

Think that the qualification for running for office should be that you have not run for office in the last 20 years.

He is a career politician. Not work a day in any corporate position. What is he going to fill his time. He is only 58.

If Pheu Thai do well and are just a front for Thaksin then that's not going to happen unfortunately.

It is well known in Thailand that he is a World Economic Forum member, which is not very popular at the Democracts base.

Better yet, a prospective candidate should come by way, naturally, to care about and represent the people and the commons.

Silly me to think that such should be the case for any elected politician.
