What beach from Surat Thani? No islands. Gentle water

Hi I am in Surat Thani city now and am looking for a beach resort not far.

 

I have some physical problems and need a gentle bit of beach- not too wavey. not too steep... (I can swim ok)

 

I am looking at Khanom - any basic hotels recommended? (on the cheaper end..  555)

 

Or any other areas within reach? I am happy with just Thai tourist places (probably prefer them!)

 

Any gems for 2 weeks?..
