36 political parties yesterday signed a code of ethics on election campaigning, only two parties did not sign up, however the Election Commission Secretary-General said the move was a healthy sign for Thai politics ahead of a free and fair general election.


So far 24,000 Thai’s living overseas have registered to vote in advance.

 

A 24-year-old man arrested for spraying graffiti on the wall of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok  has been charged. Suttawee Soikham, from Khon Kaen, was seen by two police officers spraying  number 112 with a line through it  in black paint on the wall outside the temple, a video of the action and arrest went viral.


A 15 year old girl was also detained and was wanted on a previous les majeste charge after participating in a protest last October.

 

Gunmen opened fire on a couple in their truck as they were leaving their construction company in Pattani yesterday .


Four men arrived on two motorcycles as the couple stopped to shut the warehouse gate. Two of them opened fire with assault rifles badly injuring the man who returned fire with a pistol, he later died in hospital.

 

Police detained Seventeen people for alleged cheating in enrolment for entrance examinations for the police academy.


The national police chief said Two of those detained are potential election candidates.


All have been charged with criminal association with a gang that sold entrance exam questions and provided answers.
 
At least 10 fire trucks were trying to extinguish major fires on two mountain sides in Nakhon Nayok last night.

Indonesia, FIFA yesterday revoked Indonesia's right to host this year's Under-20 soccer World Cup, The decision was taken after the governor of the largely Hindu island of Bali refused to host Israel's team.
