A new Nida poll released yesterday placed Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the most popular contestant for prime minister at next month's election, ahead of the Leader of the move forward party. The general election is due to take place on the 14th May.

 

At least One person was killed, while several others were missing after at least 12 fishing boats capsized or sank as storm force winds struck the coast of Nakhon Si Thammarat yesterday.


Some 20 or so  people were rescued as rescue teams continued to search for survivors,  A ferry on  route between Koh Samui and mainland Surat Thani sank at Don Sak pier

The Ministry of Health is modifying its Covid-19 vaccination strategy to handle a sudden increase in infections following Songkran festivities.


Doctors say they have seen infections rise by two and a half times this week compared to last. The department advised "All at-risk groups including the elderly to seek a new booster shot’.


At least 300 individuals from Myanmar , including children, fled in long tail boats  to Ranong yesterday afternoon and evening, to evade fierce fighting in their country that resulted in several deaths.

 

A railway line near Yala that was damaged on Friday due to an explosive device was repaired and re opened yesterday. The blast was thought to be the work of insurgents in the south, authorities say security is being increased along the line, regular commuter services were due to be resumed this morning.

Indonesia: gunmen attacked Indonesian army troops who had been deployed to rescue a New Zealand pilot taken hostage by the rebels in February, leaving at least six dead and about 30 missing, Nine soldiers were reportedly being held by the West Papua Liberation Army.

 

Cambodia broke it’s own Guinness world  record over the weekend for the largest Madison dance with 4999 participants!


The 5 minute dance was held in Siem Reap as part of new year festival celebrations.

Phuket and the south , Sunny, partly cloudy 33C                                                                                               
and.. ‘Hua Hin’ : Bright more cloudy this afternoon perhaps with some rain..   34 degrees.
