In many countries that would be true. But maybe not in Thailand where "decriminalised" could mean no problem for Thais but still arrestable for foreigners.

Paranoid nonsense.

Yeah but still always the threat of going backwards.

Agreed that is always a possibility, but I genuinely doubt if it will ever go full circle , I'm not one for smoking it openly in public, to be honest I prefer to grow most of my own and consume discreetly at home or at like minded  friends houses.

To be  honest that is  probably a knock on effect of the prohibition years. and  I think that applies to most people, except for the over enthusiastic newbies / tourists and of course the die hard prohibitionists.

Most, if not all, of the prohibitionists, bizarrely  refuse to accept that their personal aversion is the result of long term government propaganda, prefering to cite their  (fictional)  years of extensive (but very selective) internet research as the reason for their irrational objections.

The view in the airport has changed a lot.

More backpackers like you have seen in Amsterdam are popping up.

Understandable when you are going for a weekend trip to A'dam, the expenses are covering almost a 2 week trip to Thailand.

I had to work abroad over the last summer and as I returned I was surprised that the Names (Silver Haze, Bubble Gum, AK 47....) sounded familiar to former trips to the Netherlands.

I was born and grew up just 8 Kilometers from the Dutch border.

Last winter turned 60 and must admit,

it's not too late for a nice spliff, living up the "good old times"..

About drugs. Coffee is a drug.

seems to be a lot of mediocre weed. Pesticides, fertilizer or ? Safe for human consumption as medicine? Another out of control cash grab. A new form of vote buying? How many politicians have invested in the industry? How many BIG got licenses and divvied them up with their pals? How will the spoils be shared after the election? Will weed money help determine how the next government will be formed?
