Hair Extensions Available In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know about hair extensions? I believe that lengths of 'hair' (dont know if extensions are natural or synthetic - is there an option?) are bonded somehow onto the ends of ones own hair, thus giving the appearance of longer hair. How do they make the join flat or is there a bulge where the two join?

Assuming that this is available, and successful, is it possible then to have hair lightened? Would the extensions as well as natural hair be lightened?

Finally, if anyone does have experience of this, where would you recommend to get it done?

Thanks in advance ladies.

im not a hair professional, but this is what i know about hair extensions:

they can use either real hair or synthetic. real hair is purchased by the salons in the markets for about 6000thb for a ponytails worth (not sure of how many grams) and about 10,000thb for long hair. most real hair comes from china i am told.

if real hair is used it can be coloured to match your own hair colour no worries. you just need to talk to the person doing your hair and they will choose extensions as close enough to your own colour as possible.

they usually use a kind of glue to do the extensions which makes a little bulge. some hairdressers will use a glue that is soluble and can be dissolved by a kind of chemical when you are ready for them to be removed. west one in phuket do it, but i think you are in bangkok.

just to add, extentions are glued/sewn/attached to your own hair close to the scalp, so you generally can't see the join unless you put your hair up certain ways. They are added to the underneath layers only, so you have 'normal' hair on top to hide the joins
