Popular Post webfact
A recent incident has caught the attention of social media, where a TikTok user, @tookam568, posted a video clip of 85 tourists floating in the sea during their visit to Morakot Cave in Trang Province. According to the message in the video, the boat's anchor rope broke, causing the boat to drift away, leaving the tourists stranded in the sea for approximately half an hour before they were rescued, reported Siam Rath. The incident occurred amidst strong waves, as seen in the video, and the message accompanying it included hashtags such as #TrangSea, #KradanIsland, #ChueakIsland, #WaIsland, and #morakotcave. The tourists were unable to board the same boat and had to wait for another boat to pick them up. However, due to safety concerns, they had to wait for another group of tourists to descend from the cave before boarding the boat, as boarding both groups at the same time would have exceeded the weight limit of the boat, resulting in capsizing. The video quickly gained popularity on social media, with many netizens sharing the clip and leaving comments. The incident has raised concerns about safety standards and regulations for tourist boats and activities in Thailand, which have been marred by several similar incidents in the past. The Thai government has since taken action to improve safety measures for tourists and tour operators, such as increasing the number of safety inspections and enforcing stricter regulations. The incident serves as a reminder that safety should always be a top priority in the tourism industry, and we must all take responsibility for ensuring the safety of ourselves and those around us. To sum up, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the crucial role that safety plays in the tourism industry. It's essential that we remain alert and implement all necessary precautions to avert the likelihood of similar incidents happening again in the future. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-05-09 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Srikcir
An "anchor rope"? Sounds like a return to Thailand's culture in the 1700's. Maybe time to upgrade?

Adumbration
I have two anchors in each of my fishing and dive boats for this exact reason. If I am at sea and the anchor is lost on a coral head then I have a spare I can tie to the rope. I also carry 200 meters of anchor rope. I do this because this is not the West, there is no coast guard vessle or rescue helicopter to come and save you if you are drifting out to sea. I am frankly amazed that a tourist vessel such as this is not required to carry a reserve anchor. Maybe it is, but no one inspects to ensure compliance.
