lambshankredemption
I’m looking for a psychiatrist in Bangkok to prescribe an antidepressant for depression and anxiety that Ive been suffering from for too long without acting on it. Any recommendation out of all the hospitals in Bangkok?

Sheryl
Highly recommend this doctor at Bumrungrad. US trained (Stanford) and very sincere and kind with excellent interpersonal skills . https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/Suttiporn-Janenawasin Often heavily booked but worth the wait. Do not however buy meds at the hospital as mark up is considerable. Find out from her what drug and dosage she recommends before you leave the consultation and buy at outside pharmacy. Only exception being if she suggests a controlled drug for sleep. (Antidepressents are over the counter in Thailand). It is usually best to combine medication with counseling. 2 best resources for this in Thailand are: https://www.psiadmin.com/ https://ncsbkk.com/ncs/index.php/counseling/about/
Peabody
Amitriptyline is 5 baht/tab at Fascino Pharmacy. Considerable side effects. My girl was charged 60THB/tab at Pattaya Memorial.
Lacessit
Is your depression caused by insufficient sleep? Does your mind go around as if it is on a treadmill when trying to sleep? Do you drink alcohol? It's a depressant which may also increase anxiety. I was prescribed antidepressants for many years. I have not taken any for about 10 years. I learned there are alternatives to antidepressants, such as drowsy anti-histamines, plus a positive mindset. Every medication we take has side-effects. Some place heavy burdens on the kidneys and liver. I am astounded paracetamol remains an over-the-counter drug. In combination with alcohol, it can cause serious liver damage. https://www.google.com/search?channel=fs&client=ubuntu&q=Alcohol+depressant https://www.google.com/search?channel=fs&client=ubuntu&q=paracetamol+and+alcohol+liver+damage

Most doctors would not advise that as first line of treatment for depression and certainly not for depression mixed with anxiety. 1 1
