Buying Playing Cards

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere to buy a pack of playing cards for a reasonable price? I went to 7/11 and they were 395B a pack! Call me a skinflint but that price is daylight robbery. I was thinking of heading down to Tesco Lotus, but I thought I'd check with the good folk of Thaivisa before making a potentially wasted journey.

I've bought playing cards in many countries and have never paid anything close to that sort of price. Is it an imposed tax to potentially deter gambling?

You can find them at most local markets on the stalls that sell everything a 100 baht

Cheers colino, I'll try a local market then. :D

I'll remember if I decide to smoke or drink I should also add a gambling to complete the addictions, albeit a mental not physical one! :o

I was there a few weeks ago and the hawkers were selling packs with Saddam Hussein on the front card... don't know if the whole deck was a replica of the US military version featuring "the baddies" handed out to troops in Iraq, as I went straight for the genuine Marlboros and viagra. :o j/k

The whole deck is a replica though some are black and white.

Good value at 30 baht though.

Hi,

I have some you can have, I got them on the Thai Airways flight here. I'm at the airport plaza today if you want to pick them up?

I think the 395B ones are the plastic, hard-to-destroy ones. They'll last longer than a few paper packs; worth the money in the long run.

Nah ... I wouldn't like to be pissed off when a card bends and I could have had a pack for 25baht and just got a new one.

they are water proof and washable. works well during gambling and drinking sessions. in case someone pukes all over them.
