Ms. Anchana Boonsuay, the director of Bang Rak district, Bangkok, addressed a case involving a complaint about a marijuana dispensary located near the entrance of Saint Joseph's Convent School.

 

Despite the presence of a sign prohibiting sales to individuals under 18 years old, the proximity of the establishment to an educational institution was deemed inappropriate, reported INN NEWS.

 

Upon inspection by the Bang Rak district office, it was found that the shop was selling marijuana flowers and oil without being part of a food product sold within the store.

 

The shop did not possess a license to distribute or process controlled herbs for commercial purposes under the Thai Traditional Medicine Protection and Promotion Act of 1999.

 

The announcement was issued on February 17, 2023, by the Department of Thai Traditional Medicine and Alternative Medicine, Ministry of Public Health, which includes conditions for granting licenses.

 

Article 3 states, "The sale of controlled herbs or processed controlled herbs for commercial purposes is prohibited for individuals under 20 years of age, pregnant women, nursing women, students, college students, or university students."

 

The shop had displayed a sign stating, "No marijuana sales to individuals under 20 years old," but the concerns about its location near an educational institution led the district office to initiate discussions with the relevant authorities responsible for future licensing decisions.

 

Furthermore, the district office has publicized and instructed restaurants in the area that regularly include marijuana or hemp as ingredients in their dishes to strictly comply with the Ministry of Public Health's announcement regarding criteria, methods, quality control, and management of the sale of prepared food at food establishments, Version 2, 2022.

 

The instructions are as follows:

 

(1) Display a message or sign indicating that the establishment sells food containing marijuana or hemp as an ingredient.

(2) Display a menu listing all food items that contain marijuana or hemp as an ingredient.

(3) Provide safety guidelines for consuming food containing marijuana or hemp, including warning messages advising individuals under 20 years old, pregnant women, and nursing women to refrain from consuming such products.

I have to admit I didn't follow this development.

 

But who ever thought that it is a good idea to sell weed on the street, but cigarettes must be hidden in shops.

In Sukhumvit Soi 11 are at least 5 cars who park there and (try to) sell it. I am sure within 500m distance are at least 10 more sellers. All in the open, advertising. What a stupid idea! 

 

In principle I think it is a good idea to legalize drugs. As bad as it is, it is the smaller evil. But don't promote it!
