snoop1130
Move Forward’s policy to raise the minimum wage in Thailand to 450 baht/day immediately, or the Pheu Thai party’s step-by-step increase to 600 baht/day, have sparked widespread reaction, with workers welcoming the move and business operators, big and small, expressing serious concern that, if implemented at one time, they would raise their production costs. Chantanon Wannakejohn, secretary-general of the Office of Agricultural Economics, said that a minimum wage increase will definitely affect the farming sector. Labour, he said, accounts for 17.4% of production costs in the agricultural sector, while other costs are incurred by fertilizers and pesticides, adding that some farmers have turned to machinery to reduce the labour cost. soi3eddie
Did anyone else here notice prices increase after the minimum wage was introduced some years ago? I was shocked at how low some workers were paid and glad to see minimum wage imposed. How any workers in Bangkok, and other cities, can survive on just over 300 Baht per day is hard to beleive. One thing for sure is that big business owners won't feel any pain if it is increased. Smaller businesses may struggle though. There's a lot of aspects to any increase, however these low paid workers (such as security guards, kitchen staff, factory workers, farm labourers and construction workers etc.) do need support. 1 1

Where do you get 300baht per day from? It actually ranges from 328-354 depending on the province.https://wageindicator.org/salary/minimum-wage/thailand
