The Pheu Thai Party has scrapped it’s planed 10,000-baht handout it promised during the election campaign, adding a package of welfare programmes planned by Move Forward would cost the state about 500 billion baht,  


Pua Thai and Move forward parties are the main partners in the eight-party coalition, Move Forward won 10 more seats than Pheu Thai.

 

haulage operators yesterday handed a petition to the Move Forward Party to stamp out bribery in the transport sector, saying the practice has been around for some 2 decades.


An estimated 200 thousand truckers pay bribes to allow them to carry loads over the legal limit.

 

Navy Seals were involved in the arrest of six drug smugglers and the  seizure of just over 900 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, from a trawler south of Koh Samet, 


Police believe the trawler would have taken the drugs to a larger ship in international waters in the gulf, from there the shipment was likely to be taken to Australia.

 

The State Railways has announced that the Airport Rail Link  service is currently experiencing a monthly loss of 70 million baht due to a decline in commuters,  Less than 1.9  million commuters use the ARL on a monthly basis, a 25% decrease compared with 2019. The service is currently operated by a private company, which has encountered various technical issues and has struggled to generate sufficient revenue.


A government Pharmaceutical department has produced a new medication to help smokers quit the habit. Trials showed the new drug to be safe and effective, and should be available from hospitals early next year. Thailand has almost 10 million smokers nationwide.

Japan's prime minister unveiled a 25 billion dollar plan yesterday to expand support for young people and families in a bid to help raise the country's plummeting birth rate.


The pm promised direct subsidies for those with children and more financial help for education and prenatal care. along with the promotion of flexible work styles and paternity leave.
