Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader and prime ministerial candidate of the Move Forward Party, is currently under investigation regarding his alleged shareholding in iTV Plc. If these allegations are proven true, it could result in his disqualification from assuming the position of Prime Minister and a subsequent ban from engaging in politics.

 

Although the election commission recently dismissed several cases pertaining specifically to holding the shares, the issue now is if Pita specifically ran for Prime Minister while knowingly having the shares and understanding they could disqualify him as Prime Minister, which could even potentially see jail time if convicted.

 

The case of Pita’s media holding came to light after a member of the former government, Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, filed a petition to the Election Commission (EC) calling for it to launch an investigation into Pita’s holding of 42,000 iTV shares, a media company that has been suspended from trading and its shares have been delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand for about fifteen years.

Are these people actually adults? It's just pitiful. .... [The] shares have been delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand for about fifteen years. This is just insane. The people want change, they voted for it and they should and will have it. Question is how much blood needs to be spilled to get it. The fat pocketed, trough swilling, military bastions of the three pillar dinasaurs lost but they cannot accept the possibility of losing their power. Bad luck. It will happen. Accept it now or drag the whole country down, possibly in flames. I wish I could say what I really want to but that certainly would not be allowed here.

Embarrassment is not the word, Thai politics is the laughing stock of the world, its all well and good being angry but the average thai will not do anything about it, the thais voted to accept this constitution and the EC commission, just have to be glad thailand is not a nuclear power just a bunch of muppets

To be honest I want this guy to be elected.

However with history as it has been, he made a huge mistake by not moving these shares long before he chose to run for candidacy.

This could have all been avoided.

Agreed.

It appears that MV's pre-election strategy [for months] went array.

They knew who they were up against.....therefore, all past/present checks and balances, i's dotted, t's crossed, etc needed the upmost looking after. 

 

A personal minor misjudgment was ignored and today has charmed it's way into the current action taken against them.

After the disqualification of Thanathorn and the FF party Pita was certainly aware that these ITV shares , even if inherited , could eventually become a problem for him .

He took the risk and now he has to fight with political opponents ( who certainly are connected to the ruling " Elite " ) , I mean , for every intelligent person who understands a little about Thailand's political system ( change of the constitution made for a purpose ) , that was clear .

After he officially is declared PM ( hopefully ) , the constitutional court will decide if he violated the constitution by not declaring his shares . THIS is where his real problems might start , as it could be regarded as a criminal offense . They could even jail him , ( as PM ) , if found guilty .

Thailand is a democracy in disguise , but mostly , it is a Monarchy .

The company is still active and the law is the law......The question you should ask is why is he holding this stock when the law is well known and he knew he holds that stock.
Is it incompetence? Why not sell it like 2 years ago?

Always everyone tries to find something at the winner. If Prayuth would have won and had some shares the other side would make it a topic.....It is different Elites are fighting each other. MF and PT are as much elite as the other parties.

MF is owned by one of the richest Thais. PTP is Thaksin. The military has the guns. BJ is owned by Newin. Non elite can pick what they consider least evil and may offer them some bread crumbs. Some honest hard working Somchai will never see the parliament from inside...not here not in USA not in Germany not in Russia.

The main body is Thai Summit.
When some super rich found a party it is not grassroot, even if they win the majority.
Grassroot is when medium and low income people together found a movement....which is almost never successful because the elite will destroy them.

Thanatorn/Thaksin/Prayuth.....no one is the grassroot here. The yellow AND the red were partially grassroot....non of them every got what they wanted...
