Hi,

I've got since awhile lots of strange insects looking like a larva in my apartment (Bangkok).....

apparently they're totally harmless, never been bite or anything........

I'm posting here as I even don't know the name, so I have no idea how to really get rid of them.....

Anyone here that has any idea on what to do?

Yes, there's a developing moth inside the case.

They're harmless, all you can do is brush them off the wall or ceiling, where they're usually clinging on, and sweep them away.

There are older threads to find.

They are harmless, begin to show up every Year around this time.

They eat dust, hair, material etc.

They are great in soups when you don't have any mot daeng available.

Do to the rough and course nature of your walls like outside a Wasp nest or home has been built on you walls to hatch the baby. Usually they build under or behind furniture.

just make sure mother isn't around knock off wall and sweep quickly. 

Looks like a moth larvae to me.

Watch out for any clothes especially woollens in the house.

They'll eat cotton too if the can't find tasty woollen faire.

We vacuum pack our cold climate woollens as soon as we get back and wash them as on da island these little critters cause terrible havoc.

Wool suits also vacuum packed.

Harmless to you, but perhaps you need to use mothballs for your cloths. 

I think they are called case worms (หนอนปลอก in Thai). 

 

Apparently also called case bearers and bagworms.

Yes - it is a case moth (or bag-worm) larva.  They are totally harmless. They will feed until they are ready to pupate - generally on some type of vegetation - (varies depending on species of moth - as there are many different species of these guys) . They do not eat dust, fluff or clothes!

Interestingly - the female is flightless.  The male develops normally, pupates , leaves his bag , then uses his (very) long abdomen to mate with a receptive female in her bag.  She will then lay eggs in her bag , the larvae emerge, leave the bag - and the cycle continues!!

Yup - these are a form of clothes-moth

I am sorry - this has gone beyond boring to the average Joe - but it has really pricked my interest!

That's what my wife said.

 

Usually means time for a deep cleaning.  

 

.... Perhaps hire a maid to come a couple of times a month. 

Fumigate I use a Canadian friend but you can get Rentokil in BKK
