Visiting Phuket During Monsoon Season

Featured Replies

Hi,

We are visiting Phucket During the 1st week of October 2008. Which is the final week of our three week tour of thailand and Malasia.

I have read a number of times that this 'October' Is the middle of the monson season. Some reviews say don't visit Phuket at this time. Others have said its the best time to visit as yes it will rain and not all day only for few hours, with long sunny periods in between.

I would if possible some advice if we should go to Phuket during this time. We don't mind the odd rain storm everyday but don't want to spend every day in the hotel room as its raining.

Any advice would be great.

thanks :o

Honestly with questions like this your always going to get different opinions of what happened when I was there.

So here's mine. I have been to Phuket in October a few times. Yes you can get really nasty days (

Good time to catch up that book you've been meaning to read)

The waters around the Island can get rather nasty rips and are not always safe to go for a swim.

But majority of times it's going to be short burst of rain mostly in the afternoon. (Just enough time for a quick afternoon nap before for a big night out).

But a bad day on Phuket is still better than a good day at work.

Thanks for the reply.

if we do decide to go which i 90% think i will be. If we do get rain for a few days for the whole of the day, is there anything we can do apart from spend time in the hotel?

Is there a chance we could see some good thunder, lightning storms?

:o

October is towards the end of the monsoon season - a good time to visit phuket IMO as chances of good weather are good and not too many tourists and low season hotel rates.

Totally agree that late October is a great time. I'm usually there at that time due to business. Rates are low, not overrun so you can always get a sunchair by the pool.

Even with a bit of rain about you can still do alot of the tours around the Island it's not as if it's cold and dreary like England.

As for Thunderstorms. yep some absolute rippers! :o
