Jai Dee
Fake 50 and 20 baht bank notes in circulation in Rayong Fake bank notes in 50 baht and 20 baht denominations have been found circulating in Rayong province. Police from the Klaeng (แกลง) district precinct of Rayong province report that market vendors in the district have reported the discovery of a large quantity of fake 50 and 20 baht bank notes in circulation. Authorities said that due to the small value of the bills, market vendors often failed to verify their authenticity resulting in widespread circulation of the fake currency in the district. Victims of the fake bank notes are often phone card stores who employ young and inexperienced staff members. Police said that the fake bank notes were either printed or photocopied to resemble real notes, though distinguishing marks of these phoney bills are their lack of watermarks and the quality of paper. Store owners and staff have been informed of the fake bills and are asked to report suspicious customers in possession of the fake currency to authorities.
