TAT reveals 20 unique wellness itineraries to capture global attention

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently hosted a Thailand Wellness Business Make Over seminar aimed at encouraging health and wellness providers to devise creative offerings that appeal to the Global Wellness Tourism Market. A key aspect of the event was a wellness itineraries contest that successfully drew participation from a range of providers.

Aligned with the Thai Government’s Thailand Wellness Economic Corridor (TWC) strategy, TAT’s campaign is designed to promote high-value health and wellness tourism and foster a competitive edge for Thai providers in this sector.

From the contest, the top three honours for Wellness Tourism, “Best 3 Program Awards,” went to:

  • A Dream of Lanna Wellness by Fah Lanna Spa Chiang Mai
  • The Wellcation Experience by Varana Krabi
  • The VLCC Holistic Body & Mind Detox Ritual by VLCC Clinic Cha Am – Hua Hin

I have never met anyone in my life that has ever come to Thailand for health and wellness - maybe I move in the wrong circles, sure beer, food and 'stress relief' but not yoga and meditating !

Wellness doesn't come in the shape of an out of control pickup truck, electrocution or 9mm though  ????

No, no, no, no. What are you willing to do, to get those tourists?

Sacrifices need to be made. I do not hear ANY discussion about what sacrifices Thailand is willing to make, to get the tourists, and that multi trillion baht cash cow back.

The very first thing would be to repeal the anti farang wine bill, that was passed by a few very corrupt senators way back when, to protect an anemic local wine industry. They are losing billions of dollars a year in revenue, that would be had from a 60% wine duty, instead of 365%. The five star hotels would have major wine events, and the entire industry would flourish here.

Thailand keeps droning on and on and on, about how they want wealthy tourists. Again, what sacrifices are you willing to make? Rich tourists like to spend money when they travel. And they cannot do that here, as they do not like getting taken for a ride. Most wealthy people are smart with their money. Thailand could be making a fortune on a 25% luxury tax, instead of the 100% of more, which discourages most people from buying. How many people do you see in the luxury stores here? They are almost always completely empty. Inane. Beyond inane.

Those are just two ideas. There are so many more. But they require sacrifice and humility. Where will they find the will for that?

All the tourists that come here, have an accident, then have to pay 10x more in hospitals and their insurance refuses to pay. the opposite of wellness IMHO.
