The Thai government has launched an ambitious campaign, “Discover the New You” to entice international visitors to spend upwards of 18 million baht (US$510,000) by September of this year.

 

This initiative is a concerted effort by the government, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and over 130 healthcare, wellness businesses and service providers including hotels, spas, health resorts, hospitals, and clinics.

 

Government spokesperson, Anucha Burapachaisri, expressed delight yesterday regarding the wide-ranging collaboration on this initiative designed to boost health tourism and sustainable tourism. Anucha said…

“The country’s Prime Minister [Prayut Chan-o-cha] is assured that this effort will grab tourist attention and yield a positive economic impact.”

The campaign aligns seamlessly with the pervading project known as the Amazing Thailand Health and Wellness New Chapters New Experience, which endorses products that would engage tourists under the theme of “meaningful wellness,” reported Bangkok Post.

I think the whole medical/health tourism was very viable a few years ago but,

 

I think that ship has already sailed when in recent years Thailand not only raised their medical prices but also was in the news allowing hospitals to double charge non Thai patients

 

It's now perfectly legal for Thai public hospitals to charge foreigners double for medical treatment

 

Instead it seems India is now the place many head to for quality & better price when it comes to medical

 

Lastly there are often reports these days of outright price gouging of those caught in a emergency situation in Thailand.

They wold make better sense concentrating of 'stress relief' therapy than this total nonsense - million more come for sex than the 'well-being' these people imagine

I would guess that they will not mention all the Trash Burning , Air Pollution and filthy Water in the campaign,

This aspiring medical tourism hub has no lack of sickening slogans to promote itself. 

"Discover the New You"? Sex change transition? Maybe the Thai government can give this as an option to spending time in the Bangkok Hilton (prison) for a drug offense.
