BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government is rolling out the new L6 and N3 formats of government lottery, following earlier endorsement by the Cabinet. Related agencies are introducing the necessary regulations and rules, before officially launching these new lottery products to the general public.

The caretaker government has continued to work towards introducing L6 and N3 government lottery formats to the general public, in an attempt to improve the government lottery program and its revenue stream for the state.

The two new lottery formats are the L6 six-digit lottery, and the N3 three-digit lottery. Both of these lottery programs differ in terms of availability and rewards.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek revealed the Cabinet in its weekly meeting yesterday approved three draft announcements and ministerial regulations regarding these new lottery products.

According to these draft announcements, N3 lotteries will be sold only through online channels. This lottery type provides rewards for those with matching numbers in certain digits. Meanwhile, L6 lotteries will be available on both online and offline channels, with 14,168 winners across reward categories fixed for each drawing.

The difference between L6 and N3 lotteries is the option to accumulate rewards from a drawing cycle with no winners with the next cycle. The accumulation is only limited to two consecutive cycles, after which any unclaimed rewards from the previous month will be taken as state revenue. Drawings for both L6 and N3 lotteries will be made on the 1st and 16th day of each month.

Thailand needs something like this: this week US Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1 Billion, although with a winning chance 292.6 to 1 the odds are not in anyone favour.

Those seem reasonable odds to win $1Bn

Think you've slipped up on the odds there, the actual odds are 1 in 292 million, not 1 in 292!

Nice! That will distract the masses from what's going on in politics for a while - bread rice and circuses lottery gimmicks...

The Thai lottery needs moving into the 21st century.

Has anyone ever watched the Thai lottery draw? It goes on and on and on and on......... Complete snoozefest.

It's a bust-enhancing exercise for the girls holding up the balls.

Oh, for heaven's sake, just install machines at all the 711's and be done with it. Even tin-pot African countries have better lotteries !

Can't see it reaching 1 Billion baht, never mind dollars, in two draws.

1 in 292 MILLION......

In the USA you can buy a powerball or regular lottery ticket for $2(68Bht) that have millions of dollar payouts... here you are lucky to find a ticket for 100Bht(^$3) with a very poor payout if you win

So how do I buy lottery tickets "Online" ?

When the tickets were priced at 40 baht each (about 4 or 5 years ago), that was the legal maximum price that could be charged.

Now each ticket is marked as 80 baht, and I know the prize moved from 3,000000 to 6,000,000, but it is almost impossible to buy a 80 baht ticket.

Does anyone know if the maximum retail ticket price has been abolished or not ?

292.6 to 1 aren't bad odds to win $1 Billkion.
