The Airport Interdiction Task Force (AITF) apprehended two Hong Kong men hiding 4kg of heroin inside a lion statue-shaped cement figure in a condominium near Bangkok's Rama 9 district.

The drug traffickers had sent 20 packages from June to August, prompting Hong Kong police to expand their investigation and dismantle the smuggling network, reported Naew Na.

Today (August 17), Wichai Chaimongkol, Secretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), disclosed the arrest of the individuals along with the heroin. The investigation revealed a narcotics distribution network sending illicit substances through disguised packages. The AITF, composed of ONCB, Customs Department, Border Patrol Police, and Immigration Police, carried out the inquiry.

The network used a condo unit in Bangkok's Rama 9 area to store and package the drugs, ingeniously hidden within the statue. On August 15, the AITF apprehended the men receiving the packages, and the subsequent search found 12 heroin bars weighing approximately 4kg, concealed alongside drug paraphernalia, resembling a lion statue method used in previous seizures.

Since August, the ONCB and Hong Kong police have been sharing intelligence on intercepting drug parcels, leading to four arrests and a cumulative seizure of over 11.86kg of heroin.

ONCB's Secretary-General stated that future operations would target the drug network, aiming to arrest all involved parties. The network's sophisticated methods, involving multiple individuals and forged travel documents, will continue to be investigated for further legal action.

Another Snitch why would the Rozzers start looking at the Statues in the 1st place and, as if they say were that well disguised?

Hide the statue !!!! hide the statue somchai !!!

In all seriousness, this appears to be a successful long term operation. It didn't matter if they hid the statue. It was only a matter of time and they got caught.

If you think regular old heroin is bad, wait till you see what replaces it after they successfully block heroin in quantity. Look to the US to find out. In Asia and Europe, they don't need to start making fent labs yet because the old stuff can still get in over land
