July 12, 200718 yr We last visited Khun Korn Waterfall in March. We re- visited today, July 11. We were shocked at the results of a huge fire that must have gone through there between our visits. The ground has been partially covered by rainy season greenery. The huge bamboo forest is gone as the bases are burnt and they have all toppled or are about to. Trees, palms, bananas are burned up along almost the entire trail to the waterfall. How did this fire start or what happened?
July 12, 200718 yr It's called slash and burn and though it doesn't look very pretty now, it will be soon grow back. Sometimes they overdo the burning, hense the very bad smog we had here last year.
July 13, 200718 yr Which of course have nothing to do with the increasing pollution from trucks, cars, motorbikes, industries, airplanes and so on.
July 15, 200718 yr ^ Where, in Kun Korn? You must be joking, a secluded paradise, not far from a famous white temple, been there on a tour before.
July 15, 200718 yr I go up there with my dog once a week, we normally walk to the second bridge, one of us being old and fat. I can't say I've noticed anything out of the ordinary or heard any complaints from the many Israeli tourists who seem to walk all the way up every day.
