Most Senators Await ‘Uncles’ Advice’ Over PM Vote

MOST SENATORS ARE impatiently awaiting some “advice” from a couple of powerful “uncles” as to whether they should vote Pheu Thai candidate Srettha Thavisin for prime minister or not, partisan sources said over the weekend.

Whilst most of the senior lawmakers are more or less anticipating some sort of power play on the part of both “uncles” to give them some “advice”, albeit in tacit fashion, a relatively few others may already have been prepared to either cast yea votes for or nay votes against the real estate mogul-turned-prime-ministerial candidate in next Tuesday’s joint House/Senate meeting to pick head of a post-election government.

The sought-after “advice” may be given through senatorial whips who will almost certainly take turns for floor debate prior to the time-consuming vote on a roll call for head of a post-election government. Given speeches to be delivered by those whips either in support or censure of the Pheu Thai-nominated candidate, their colleagues will effortlessly know if they will cast a yea or nay vote.

All 249 senators had been handpicked by de facto Ruam Thai Sang Chart boss/caretaker prime minister Prayut “Uncle Tu” Chan-o-cha and Palang Pracharath leader Prawit “Uncle Pom” Wongsuwan, following the 2014 coup which the former had orchestrated as army chief.

Uncles advice,

A Euphemism for orders from Prayut or Prawit.

Uncles advice, so it is clear why Pita couldn't get enough votes and who is in charge... It is still the army so Srettha will not be the chosen one too

They seem to have created a puppet government out of the elected MPs!

Looks like one uncle is having a powerful turnout first ????

Prawit is going to be next PM. Mark my words. Just saying. Wait and see.

Will of the people and democracy ignored.

Maybe the uncles are waiting for advice.

Fairly sure Prayut and Prawit are not waiting for advice from Thaksin. I think you have missed the drift of my post.

Read as Military interference

I find it a bit odd that the western countries, who usually get hot under the collar at a hint of a bent election, have been deafeningly silent on all the shenanigans going on at the moment.

No no no, it sounds better than brown envelopes  - that is euphemism for bribes.

Nodding dogs.  Why are they 'impatient'?  They get paid a monthly salary to say yes when ordered.

I bet there won't be many Senators absent this time around.

Explains a lot about the significance of this country! ????

Probably can't be bothered anymore. They know it's a waste of time.

So Prawit, whose Party got a massive 1.35% of the vote, is likely to be PM. Unbelievable.

It depends a lot on what he and the PT promise the Uncles and the sick cousin (Anutin)

Just because Srethha is PM it does not mean he has any power.  The power is in the cabinet and how things are voted on.

If Anutin keeps the portfolio he had

Prawit becomes the minister of defence

Military gets the finance department

PT gets the foreign affairs then PT has lost control

In this country he she that controls the money and the military wins.

PT gets Thaksin back but probably behind bars for a long time.

PT loses face wth their supporters

MFP gets to remind people everyday about PT and the fact that they do not keep their promises.

The man from Uncle.

it will be the last vote you ever have on the issue

If they've been told to stay away because Settha is not the chosen one, they will.

If the 'uncles' are part of the 14 party coalition, then I think their advice is self evident. What does the constitution say about ditching your coalition partners and re-partnering with Move Forward after you become PM? Just wondering, Machivelli and all that good stuff.

nothing - PT and MFP still have the majority of seats and can do as the want
