Money Exchange Surprise!

Featured Replies

Just converted 215 Singapore $s to baht. Got 4660 baht from Siam Comm. Bank.

Went to XE.com to see how bad a deal I got and to my pleasant shock all the currency exchange web sites show 4339 baht! How could Siam give me 330 baht more then the global rate?? (BTW I checked just hours after I exchanged)

Sounds like a bit of a mystery. Perhaps very quick fluctuation rate?

Because in country rates are much better than external rates - for the last few months there has been a big difference - with USD it is about 3 baht per dollar. The reason everyone tells those sending funds here send foreign currency and have the exchange done here.

No, got the receipt... the conversion is computerized

Your not comparing like for like.... xe.com is showing global exchange rates for outside Thailand

You would have got much the same at the Bangkok bank: http://www.bangkokbank.com/Bangkok+Bank/Pe...tes/default.htm
