Hi, First time post..

I am currently staying on an extended tourist visa that i received from singapore. My time is up soon and i wish to apply for another Tourist Visa preferably without the flight.

I would like this to be relatively painless of possible and I have heard of the trips to cambodia and laos. To be honest i like the idea of the organised trips for a tourist visa, but i don't know where these exist in BKK. Does anybody have the links or phone numbers for such companies as well as info on reliabilty and personal experiance?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid heading for a "border run" is only an option if you wish to enter on an existing visa or on a visa exemption (as a UK citizen, you're eligible for this 30 day entry). If you really don't want to fly, then I'd suggest the least painful way for you to go is an overnight sleeper from BKK to Hat Yai. From there you can get a minibus to take you straight to Chulia St, Penang (Malaysia). Visa free entry to Malaysia is no hassle. Once in Penang, find a place to stay (I often use "Far Eastern Hotel" at the end of Chulia St). There are many agents on Chulia street who have the visa forms and can do the run to the consulate for you (it's a bit of a hassle by public transport). You'll be able to pick up your passport with Tourist Visa the next day and book a minibus back to Hat Yai from the same agents. If you'll be returning to Bangkok by train, it might be an idea to buy your ticket beforehand as they can fill up several days before.

If you want to apply in person at the consulate, I believe the details are as follows;

Royal Thai Consulate-General

No. 1, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman

10350 Penang

Tel. (60-4) 2268029, 2269484

Fax:(60-4) 2263121

From Bangkok believe there are organized visa runs to Savannakhet and possibly Vientiane in Laos. Cambodia is not a viable option for a Consulate issue tourist visa. Companies that provide service normally advertise in the daily classified section of The Bangkok Post. But as above post says it is easy to do the Malaysia trip and there is no visa expense to enter.

Fullerphoto, If you pick yourself up a copy of the Bangkok Post, look through the travel

section of the classifieds and you will see advertisements for 3-4 companies that make

group tourist visa runs to Laos. I'm not an advocate of the group tour but there definitely

are some advantages at mild additional expense to going it as an independent.

Just off the top of my head look for:

Jack Golf

ThaiVisaRuns

Bri-Joy

( I apologize Lopburi3, you posted while I was composing. )
